On this date in Spirit history...

July 31, 2004

Future Boston Red Sock Craig Breslow got the win out of the 'pen for the New Jersey Jackals as they topped the Spirit in a come-from-behind 11-9 victory at Fraser Field. Fueled by homers by Travis Oglesby, Rob Fischer and Brian Macchi, the Spirit jumped to an early lead, but the Jackals staked a late rally. Ryan Bicondoa got a blown save and the loss- a harbinger of things to come for Bic in the closer's role. Chris Rowan homered for the Jackals in their 5-run 8th to solidify the victory.

P.S. The Quebec Cheaters are at it again!

Quebec: Acquired INF Ryan Lehr from Coastal Bend in exchange for future considerations.

Is this the start of the patented Quebec 2nd half rent-a-player deals?
