Burning questions.

1. My own source tells me that, yeah, the city of Lynn sucks, but reports that the Spirit are definitely gone after this season are (to quote) "bullshit." Anyone else hear anything?

2. So, jolly old St. Nick gave three guys the boot from the ballpark today for not standing up during God Bless America. Thoughts?

3. JD Reinenger might be back tomorrow. Who do you take out of the lineup?

4. Seriously, can anyone find us a better 3rd base coach?

5. Someone name the last time before today that de Vries got an RBI. Anyone?

1. I wrote what I know.

2. Pretty stupid. It's not the national anthem, for one thing. Nick has the right to do whatever he wants and set whatever policies he wants in his ballpark; I just happen to think he overreacted. I'm a little sick of GBA being played every 7th inning stretch anyways.

3. Nobody.

4. I hear Dale Sveum is available.

5. No.

1. Ain't heard nuthin'.

2. I'm on record as for GBA, good for You Nick!.

3. Noone

4. Frank Carey.....PLEASE.

5. I think 8/16 in New Haven
(RBI without a hit)

1) All I've heard up until that was that they'd be just moving along or pull an Elmira.
2) I heard something about Sabino's wife getting bothered and people getting the boot. But what do I know,I was doing audio for LynnCam. :-p
3) I'd say take out Bethel for a game or two and let JD get back into the game for a game or two. After that I don't know, with the way we've played I don't know if I'd wanna tweak the lineup THAT much.
4) Frank Carey,IF anyone is needed bad.
5) Nope, but I think Dave might be correct with the New Haven thing
6) Yeah,they've just given up

1) havent heard anything besides what was in that last post.

2) wow, did he really? as much as im NOT against what he did, i really dont think he should have, he was way out of his place there. national anthem would have been SLIGHTLY more acceptable to boot. but not much.

3) de vries....even tho he's my favorite player

4) lol

5) lol again.

For kicks I was wondering when DeVries got his last RBI at home, sso I looked it up. The last RBI DeVries had at home was on the 11th against the Skyhawks. If it wasn't for the Rowan triple that the outfielder's lost in the light,he wouldn't have even gotten that RBI (a 5/3 groundout, btw :-p).

de vries isn't even in the lineup every day, now that we have Cordova.

Joe Grav said...

^that was to Grant, who proposed we take out de Vries for Reinenger

As long as deStiff comes out...

d-Stiff.

No, you're not overreacting. It would be so depressing if Nick left.

But right now, I'm doing the only thing I can do: turning out for every game, making some noice, and supporting the team on this possible run to a title. And praying that attendance stays high. Maybe a title + good attendance will convince St. Nick to keep giving it a go, no matter how much the city sucks.

throwing anyone out for not standing for anything, be it God Bless America(awful song, needs to be stopped), Cotton Eyed Joe or the
National Anthem is a bullshit move.

Last time I checked this was still a free country regardless of what the Republicans are trying to do with it.

I've been to minor league baseball parks all over the country and I've never seen anyone as heavy handed as Ol' Nick. His ego is out of control, just take a look at the mural in the Grog for evidence of that "Nick Lopardo's Spirit???" What about the City of Lynn's North Shore Spirit

If the motto of the Rox is "Fun is Good" I wonder if the motto of Nick Lopardo's North Shore Spirit should be "You have fun when I tell you to."

Standing, sans headgear during the National Anthem is a simple matter of respect, try getting some.
The deal w/ GBA started after 9/11 and is a way of showing gratitude and appreciation for what we have here in this country, try showing some.
If you can't invest a minute and a half for this purpose, why not move to France and watch tennis with the rest of the ungrateful.

Making it a Democratic vs. Republican issue ia a major league cop-out. No wonder you post anonymously, I also would be too embarrassed to sign my name to that line of bullshit.

i didn't realize that there were hordes of "ungrateful" expatriot americans living in france watching tennis in some bar.

love it or leave it right?

I'll agree that booting people for not standing during GBA was un-necessary and that this is a free country...b.ut Sparks is right too. Do it out of respect for what we have and the resiliance we've shown. It may be a nuisanace,it may be a "Waste of time"..but damnit,it's a tradition to stand during it and show respect.

Also, that mural in the Grob is not the work of Loprado...it's the work of Bob and some of me. Nick has nothing to do with the wall...and,hell,I didn't even notice that.

Still...that's pretty big talk for someone who hides behind the name "Anonymous"

Joe Grav said...

Any more political cheap shots one way or the other and I'll close this post.

We're talking about whether or not Nick was right to boot people, NOT whether or not God Bless America is respectworthy as a song and/or tradition, and NOT whether or not this country is great.

Let's stick to the point, people

SoSayethI2006 said...

Can I get an Amen fron the bobbleheads?.

DaveCo said...

all I have to say about the political cheap shots and shit is the following two points...
1) I'm not political, who thinks that I am? The only thing political I think or say at all is that Lynn is "corupt" and Bush is an idiot.
2) You can't discus the subject of if it was right or not to boot those guys for not standing during GBA without saying that the song is "respectworthy" enough to stand up for and support the country and it's people or not.

That's all from me on that,I've sadi what I've had to.

Joe Grav said...

So how about them Skyhawks?

DaveCo said...

I said t before, and I'll say it again....it's just sad how they gave up.
