Spirit Ad Wins Award!
Well........I DID IT! =D
I sent in the North Shore Spirit Championship Ad I made for LynnCAM in the "Commercial Sports" category, and took home a bronze Telly in that category. In order to qualify for the Bronze I had to recieve a rating off a 10-point system from a panel of judges that measures between 7.0-8.9. A Silver award would warrent a rating of 9.0 or higher.
So yeah.....I'm pretty excited that I won this thing-and I'm gonna opt to get the statuette & cetificate. Thought I'd share.....and for those of you wondering exactly which ad it was, here it is again:

Happy New Year.....& Here's A Video!

Now......I decided last night that I should make a highlight reel for the 07 season!
Unfortunately,I only have the foootage from my previous videos at my disposal as all other pics and videos I took over the summer got lost about a month ago when my laptop got busted. SO.....it won't be the best.
If you have pics or videos that you yourself took don't hesitate to send them to me at DmstrDman20 @aol.com.
But I got bored last night and made a short video preview that I thought would be cool to do......so here it is!
Enjoy! ^_^
ALSO: Anyone got song ideas? Right now I'm using "Welcome To The Jungle" by Guns N Roses.
SO....If you have any ideas put it here or e-mail me

A cordial invitation
BC Women's Hockey vs. Renesselear, Fri Oct. 5, 7 PM, BC' s Conte Forum
The BC women's hockey team is kind of my winter version of the Spirit (a team few people care about, but I care deeply about). We're opening up the season next Friday night at 7 at BC's Conte Forum. Admission is FREE for everyone, and we get loud and have a lot of fun. If you plan on coming, bring artificial noisemakers if you have them. If not, just bring your voice.
Red Sox Rally Monday will be this coming Monday - in 2004, Dave and I went, and the Sox won the World Series. In '05, we didn't go, and we didn't win. Coincidence? Maybe. But I'm not willing to take that chance. They haven't announced what time the event will be at yet - if it's at night, I'm there, but if they do it in the afternoon, I can't go. Also, that night a certain football team that only wins because of spying and not because of sick players plays on Monday Night Football, so we could hit up somewhere to watch the game after.
Also, at some point, Dave said we should get together to have dinner and watch a game of some sort at the Sports Depot in Allston, something we've done in the past. I'll let you know when we hash out a date and time.
Hope to see you at Conte Forum on Oct. 5!

Second Game Of Championship Tonight
Come one, come all was the theme last night-as the Pride sold tickets for only $1 and had creazy sales in their pro shop. Even though at the end of the night the Pride had a 1-0 series lead....it was a fun trip, and I wanna go again tonight--but can't because I have class from 4-6:30. ='[
Tonight is game two of the championship series pitting the Spirit against the Pride. Tonight Matt Bishop will face off against the Pride's Joe Gannon.
Let's take a look at both pitchers last playoff outings really quick, shall we?
Matt Bishop pitched against Atlantic City in Game 2 of the Semis. He went 6.1 innings. In that time he gave up 2 runs (both earned) on 10 hits while walking none and striking out 2. He walked away with a 1.50 ERA.
Joe Gannon faced off against New Jersey in the Semis in Game 4. He went 6 innings, giving up 3 runs (only one earned) on 5 hits giving him a 1.50 EAR,and the win. He also sturck out 6 while walking just 2.
I think we have a strong chance at winning tonight. While Matt's last outing wasn't the best,I think he'll pick things up this game and give us 5-6 strong innings. But the Spirit just need to remember two things.......stirke early, but also take baby steps (SEE: runs every now and then....no big amount unless REALLY needed)
To anyone goign up,have a great time! And if you see the Pride Booster Club members that were at Fraser go over and say hi,they are incredibly friendly people =]
To those of you listening on the radio.....I'll,most likely, join ya here in an in-game post around 7:30ish.
GO SPIRIT!

And that's why you stay 'til the end of the game

It's cliche, I know - but the reason why it's worth it to wait in line for 2 hours, or get ripped off by some lowlife scalper, is because you never know what you're going to see at the ballpark.
So, the Red Sox are now 2-41 when trailing after 8 innings. Thank you Mike Lowell, Jason Varitek and Coco Crisp! Oh, and don't forget Lester, Timlin and Gagne.
The ovation for Lester when he came out of the bullpen before the game gave me the chills, and being part of the crowd as we all stood for the ENTIRE 9th inning was amazing. Belief is back!
Video from Fenway as Timlin gets a big K with the bases loaded in the 8th, the crowd sings Sweet Caroline, and Lugo gets a big ovation to start the bottom of the 8th:
In Brockton we had another nailbiter:
(from the Spirit site)
By John Leahy Tuesday, August 14, 2007
Jerson Perez went 3-for-4 and Julio Soriano fanned Brockton's Lee Rubin with the tying run on in the bottom of the ninth as the North Shore Spirit held off the Brockton Rox for a 6-5 victory at Campanelli Stadium in game two of their three game series.
The Spirit broke on top 2-0 in the second against Rox lefthander Bryan Morse, who had one-hit the Spirit in his last start. Luis Lopez singled and and one out later moved to third on a Jersen Perez single. Josue Lopez delivered a clutch two-run single for the 2-0 Spirit advantage.
Brockton took the lead in the bottom of the fifth against Spirit starter Matt Bishop (8-4) with a four-run inning. Three straight hits opened the inning, with Jared Edmonson's infield hit scoring the first run. Lee Rubin blasted a three run homer later on in the inning for a 4-2 Rox lead.
The Spirit rallied right back in the top of the sixth. Mike Torres and Luis Lopez cracked back to back doubles to open the inning for a run to make it a 4-3 game. One out later, Jerson Perez singled and was doubled in by Allen Mottram to tie things up at 4-4.
North Shore then plated a pair of runs in the seventh, on an RBI double by Jerson Perez and a wild pitch by Rox reliever Jon Koch ( 0-3) for the sixth run.
The Rox were not done, as they rallied in the bottom of the ninth for the second straight evening. With one out, Melvin Falu doubled off of Spirit reliever Brandon Martin and then scored on a Jared Edmonson single to make it 6-5. Martin fanned Jorge Mejia for the second
out, and Soriano came out of the pen and struck out Rubin swinging.
Very nice.
So, back to Fraser tomorrow - time to finish off the sweep. Bring your brooms and hawaiian shirts!
Another Spirit Pitcher Wins PoTW Honors
"The North Shore Spirit are quietly stockpiling awards this season. Converted starter Dennis Robinson has earned pitcher of the week honors for the week ending August 12, PA-Sportsticker – official statistician of the CanAm League has reported. The right hander joins Chris Farley, Ryan Bicondoa (2), and Derek Drage as the other members of weekly honorees the Spirit have had this season.
The interesting tidbit regarding the award is that Robinson only started one game for North Shore over the week, but it was an impressive one. In a road start against the Sussex Skyhawks on August 10, Robinson tossed a complete game shut-out gem, scattering four hits while striking out five and walking none.
Robinson was made a starter for the ball club after Bryan Morse was traded to Brockton and Chris Farley’s contract was sold to the Yankees organization. Robinson made his first start on July 18, and picked up a win against the Worcester Tornadoes.
“D-Rob” as he is known around the ballpark garners a 4-3 record on the season (4-1 as a starter) with one save to his credit. His 2.97 earned run average overall is third among Spirit starters behind Matt Bishop (2.20) and Bicondoa (2.96)."
Congrats D-Rob.....you;ve earned it.
Nows here's something I threw together really quick....and shall for every PoTW the league selecets from the Spirit as I personally like this little thing. =]

Mea Culpa

That just brings a tear to my eye......
The Spirit pounded Brockton tonight, 14-3, and Josue Lopez had quite possibly the best game any Spirit positon player has ever had. He went 5-FOR-5 with a triple (Dave thankfully has video of this amazing feat), a double, and three singles. Truly unbelievable. Ever since Leahy compared him to Mo Vaughn, he's got 7 hits... so keep it up. Jo-sue might actually be turning it around - which would be huge! WOOOO!
Our thoughts on tonight's MVP:
In addition, Vic returned. North Shore improved to 4-0 with Vic Davilla in the lineup, although Vic did go just 1-4 with a cheap hit in the 9th. I really hope he stays permanently this time.

For the record, WE CALLED IT TONIGHT!! hahahahahaha....
Post game reactions in the car:
Chris Farley didn't have his best stuff tonight, giving up 8 hits in 6 innings, but in a very unSpirit like fashion, North Shore escaped a lot of jams tonight AND were opportunistic at the plate --- and won the game by 11 despite only having 1 more hit than the Rox. When has THAT happened this year?
Gary Galvez was cruising along for Brockton until the 3rd, when Tony Gonzalez dropped a routine fly ball into right by Luis Lopez. That opened the floodgates for the Spirit, leading to an 2RBI double for Josue "MY MAN" Lopez with 2 outs to open the scoring. Jerson Perez added another RBI to make it 3-0.

A job very well done....
In the bottom of the 4th, Gonzalez atoned for his error with a solo blast to right to make it 3-1, but it was as close as Brockton would get.
The rest of the game was a hit parade:
Torres RBI single in the 5th off of Galvez...4-1
Luis Lopez RBI single in the 6th off of Galvez...5-1
Top 6: Josue Lopez scores on a DOUBLE STEAL off of Luis Carreras...6-1
Top 8: Josue Lopez legs out an RBI TRIPLE...7-1
Stevens then came in for Brockton in the 9th and the wheels really fell off:
Luis Lopez brings in two on an E-6 by de La Cruz...9-2
Josue Lopez makes it 5-for-5 with a ribbie single...10-2
BJ Weed with 2RBI single...12-2
The Rox put in right fielder Tony Gonzalez to pitch... he walked Chris Wood and Mike Torres with the bases loaded to make it 14-2.

Yes... Fun IS Good....
Jamie Baker, Donny Langdon and Derek Drage combined to pitch the last three for the Spirit. They were all a bit shaky, but got the job done.

I think everyone can agree with this one.
Hey, at least the Rox had a FEW things to cheer about:
Vic didn't have a very good night...
And Sumo Wrestling always keep the patrons happy. I think the idiot in the red is Chris Miyake. It WOULD sum up his night... :)

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT:
"It's all fun and games until you [opens the fan scroll] CATCH THE SPIRIT!" -Eric Roberts
Also, I want to add that I called in to the Rox postgame show after the game. First and foremost, the Rox postgame show is GREAT. Why can't we do stuff like that?
The host is awesome, as well - and we had a nice chat. I avoided 'rubbing it in' as best as I could. ;)
At the end, he said that he knows that the Spirit fans have a blog... and that broadcasters around the league read it and pick up valuable information on the Spirit. He also greatly complimented the diehard Spirit fans out there -- we were all over Campanelli tonight.
So, Can-Am broadcasters...thanks for reading... and you're welcome. :)

Spirit Vs Rox Exhibiton Game Video
They include the odd strikeout and, later, sacrifice groundout that Carlos Rodriquez hit and then the 'weirdest ending to a game".
It also includes some pics I took....figured I'd kill two birds with one stone.
The video is below......enjoy! =D
