Alright, I'm not gonna lie- no matter how happy I am about this team, and how much I understand that they can't win EVERY game... it SUCKSSSS to lose to Brockton. GOD, there is something about that team, I just wish they'd go...away. We can't seem to beat them, they're always the thorn in our side.
The Spirit lost 6-4 tonight @ Fraser in front of a very nice crowd. I didn't take notes, and it was a pretty action-filled game, so I'm gonna cop out for once and link you to northshorespirit.com for a recap.
And now, for the five burning questions:
1. WTF is it about Brockton? Why can we kick everyone's ass but them? Don't you wish they would just go join the Atlantic League?
2. What was with the lack of clutch hitting tonight. That's not like the Spirit- lots of runners left on base. OK, this isn't really a question, but I'm looking for comments about it, regardless.
3. Did JK wait too long to give Siak the hook?
4. Now that Rival is proving to be ultra-impressive, what should his new role be?
5. Are you going to Brockton tomorrow night?

1. I don't know, it's a curse that's existed since May 22(i think thats the date) in 2003 when we lost that damn first game in team history, and it hasn't gone away since. I pray to God we don't play them in the postseason.
2. It was pretty frustrating to get all those hits & not cash in. I think Cordova's out of place in the #5 hole. Trezza is REALLY struggling, he's swinging at some HORRID pitches.
3. I really want to say so, given the bullpen's success. It's not often that you see a starter give up 11 hits.
4. A co-setup man with Robinson- maybe a sort of flexible setup guy who can go 2-3 innings. They can share the role and as a result keep both arms fresh.
5. Yeah, but I don't know why-
I don't want to get killed
i WISH i were going up to brockton. id be WILLING to get my ass beat if it meant giving the spirit some of my 8-and-0-in-baseball-games-this-year karma.
1) Brockton is,I hate to admit it,a pretty damn good team. Thye always have been, but they always seem to be at their best against us no matter how much they suck. It's odd.
2) Our batting just sucked tonight,'nuff said
3) Siak was off his game tonight,he should've been pulled a little earlier than he was for sure. Our bullpen was just AMAZING! Which leads to...
4) RIVAL! OMG! Great outing tonight and, really, all of them have been pretty good too. He may be the one to own Borckton this series....and I hope he's used more in the bullpen. If we need another stater (GAIN!) then I say try him once.
5) Yes,and I also don't know why I want to risk my life!! o__0
I know Chris Rowan is good, but you look up now and see John Kelly is 10-2, and his skills are suppose to be declining?
records arent always indicative of performance. what's his era, whip, baa, etc?
Last I checked though, what matters in any sport in whether you win or lose. And he's won 10 times and only gotten beat 2 times. That's a pretty good ratio if you ask me
You have to look at it in terms of strenghts and weaknesses.
If the Spirit had John Kelly on their pitching staff, sure, it'd be a stronger pitching staff. But they already have a LARGE number of solid pitchers.
Meanwhile, look at the infusion the everyday players have gotten from the re-arrival of Rowan. He brings an incredible element to the game defensively, and he helps make the lineup incredibly stacked. We'd probably have Howdeshell or Brown as our starting SS, no offense to either one of those guys but they're not Chris Rowan.
