Only 30 seconds into the broadcast, 1510the zone had technical difficulties and went off the air, but they came back just before the first pitch.
Off the air again. WTF. This has been the worst broadcast year in Spirit history. No offense to you Mr. Leahy if you're reading- it's not you. It's everything else. I haven't listened to as many games this year, so maybe the ones I haven't listened to have gone perfectly and it's just the ones I've listened to that have problems or get tape delayed.

Magic # is combined # of Spirit wins and New Haven losses that would give North Shore the overall best record.
Right now there are 7 games left and New Haven is 6.5 games behind, meaning if the Spirit win 1 game, OR if New Haven loses 1 game, the Spirit clinch.
There's a mathematical formula for it that is slightly fucked up by the rainouts in this league:
(TG+1)-(L2-L1) = Magic number
With TG meaning total games in the season, L2 meaning losses by the 2nd place team and L1 meaning losses by the first place team.
Since the Spirit and Cutters will play different numbers of games, the formula was thrown off a bit, but yeah that's the general theory behind "magic #."

Gray's RBI does in fact make it 2-0, then Joey Siak shut Quebec down in Bot 2 to keep it that way into the 3rd.
Between Boyle and Leahy, over the course of 4 years I think I've heard the description of Quebec's hand-operated scoreboard 234973248092038123290182310832 times.

The problems we experienced in Quebec (radio-wise) were due to THE POOR PHONE LINE IN QUEBEC. It had nothing to do with the Zone. It is an old ballpark and many teams have problems with that phone line.
Just thought you'd want to know the truth.
