Looks like we're already off to a GREEEEAT start *gag*
Spirit @ Skyhawks game 1/3 August 4, 2006
Pregame/ notes:
>Spirit walking wounded means Morse DHing and batting 9th for the Spirit in addition to pitching.
>Other oddities: Davilla in left, Brooks at 3rd, de Vries at 1st.
>CHRIS FARLEY day-to-day with tendonitis, will miss his start; Matt Bishop will start in his place
>Rob Fischer expected to join the team Sunday, at which point we can actually field a full team.
Lineup:
Weed CF
Bethel 2B
Davilla LF
Trezza C
Brooks 3B
Wishy RF
deVries 1B
Brown SS
Morse P/DH
TOP 1>
1-2-3 inning for Spirit against SUS starter Tim Tisch, 0-0
BOT 1>
Much different start for Morse:
Leadoff triple over Wishy's head by Cooper
LeNore RBI single, 1-0 SUS
Sussex loads bases w/ 0 out using 2 walks & Corporan single
2-rbi double for Cabrera; Corporan gunned down at the plate trying to score from 1st, 1 out. 3-0 SUS
Umpires have a conference, rule Cabrera's hit was foul; the runners go back, 1-0 SUS
Cabrera grounds into a fielders choice, scoring a run. 2-0 SUS
Daley sacrifice fly, 2 outs. 3-0 SUS.
Grimes singles to put two on.
Ayala whiffs, the inning is FINALLY over. 3-0 SUS.
TOP 2>
Another 1-2-3 inning... looks like we're in for a long day. 3-0 SUS.
BOT 2>
Hooray, a good sign: 1-2-3 inning. 3-0 SUS.
TOP 3>
De Vries lead off single to left- Spirit's first hit.
Brown draws a walk on four straight pitches- first two men on w/ 0 out for Morse, undoubtedly up to bunt. Spirit playing NL ball while the other team plays regularly.
Morse successful sac bunt. Runners on 2nd and 3rd w/ 1 out for the top of the order.
Weed grounds to 3rd; De Vries thrown out trying to score, 2 out; Weed safe at 1st on FC
Bethel grounds out, Spirit get nothin'. 3-0 SUS.
BOT 3>
Morse settling down...1-2-3
TOP 4>
Brooks picks up a 2-out single
Grounder to 1st by Wishy- Daley's flip to the pitcher covering is errant, putting 2 RISP for de Vries- HUGE situation for de Vries
And as usual, De Vries doesn't come through. Stiff. I'd rather have Rival play 1st. Inning over. 3-0 SUS
BOT 4>
2 singles for Sussex bring Agramonte up w/ 1 out
Agramonte single up the middle loads the bases. Uh---oh....
RBI SacFly for Cooper- 4-0 SUS.
Lenore flies out to end the inning.
TOP 5>
No dice. 1-2-3
BOT 5>
Runners on 1st & 2nd with 1 out.
Daley lines it to Morgan Brown, it should have been a double play but Brown's throw got away from de Vries so only 1 out made on the play. Runners on 1st and 2nd now with 2 out for Grimes.
Morse gets grimes out to escape the jam, 4-0 still.
TOP 6>
OK we have 4 innings to get 4 runs. Unfortunately we have 4 automatic outs in the lineup. (DeStiff, Brown, Bethel, Morse)
1-2-3 inning by the heart of the order. Just PEACHY #$@#@#!#
BOT 6>
Agramonte and Cooper with singles.
Lenore grounds out, runners to 2nd and 3rd.
Eury with a 2 RBI single.
RIVAL in to pitch
F@!$!@# this s#%!#! i'm not listening anymore. You got the point.
NSS 0 2 0
SUS 6 12 1
Bot 6th

Good idesa,bad day.
WTF IS GOING ON?!?!?! I have more pressing issues following Wednesday night (I have to shell out $300 for a new camera & iPod....D@MN!!!!) and haven't been following any team at any point. I am now soooo confused and feel very lost. I don't follow the team and all this happens?!?! Oh well, that's baseball.
Weir is a surprise to me,I knew he'd get soem punishment-but not THAT!!! The linups are more flip-flopped than Kerry and Farley's absence will hurt us badly. We really do need to get players from New Jersey and Nashua.....HOWEVER,if we demand a player and they won't give one that's wanted would we get back Lavergne (since Howdeshell is gone from NJ)? That may just me being tired, depressed, and pissed tlaking....but w/e.
HOWEVER,good rally from the Spirit. Shows we can do soemthing right.....
Hey Joe,
deStiff actually led the team in hit goin' 2-4.
Hits....Hits??
on this day, the broken clock was literally right twice.
You know what, I'm happy with the rally too. Maybe it was just big Papi heroics-induced glee, but when I saw the final socre I thought:
"OK, we lost. But we scored six runs. With THAT lineup. I'm not going to get negative. Morse won't have another bad outing like that one again."
