SPIRIT WIN SERIES AT BROCKTON!!!!!
Can you believe it? They've done it! The North Shore Spirit have won two in a row AT Campanelli Stadium to beat the Rox in the three-game series. The final score was 4-0. The win gave the Spirit a 7-5 record in the season series with the Rox--- wow! Bryan Morse was incredible, pitching a complete game four-hit shutout to earn the win.
The Spirit got all the offense they would need in the first inning. Morgan Brown and Ricardo Cordova picked up RBI singles off of Rox starter Rolando Viera to take the early 2-0 lead. They chased Viera in the 7th with a few insurance runs. Morgan Brown was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Rob Fischer picked up a 1-out double to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. A passed ball scored Morgan Brown and a Vic Davilla RBI single scored Fischer to set up the final score, 4-0.
Morse really cruised past Brockton. He retired 12 straight between the 2nd and 6th innings. He was only really tested briefly in the 8th inning but got a double play to get out of the jam. The complete game shutout was his 2nd such performance of the season.
The victory makes the Spirit 5-0 on their interrupted road trip against the iron of the league-- pretty successful, no?
This was a true message from the Spirit that they're ready to take on anyone. The Spirit now lead the 2nd half by 1.5 games.
PLAYER OF THE GAME:
It has to be Morse, but a nod to Sabino who ends the series with 8 hits. It'll be hard to take him out of the lineup when BJ comes back.
TOTALS
Spirit 4-10-0
Rox 0-4-1

Do not be too suprised if it's Brooks coming out instead of Sabino. Wishy's starting to swing the bat well again and Luis is 16 for his last 38 while having some real big At Bats.
Our options are increasing with excellent play as well as with players returning from the DL.
SlimSlow is expecting delivery of his Hoverround any day now.

What the ??
actually i WOULD be surprised if its brooks pulled. he's batting somehting like .320 isnt he?
i know he's been slumpin just a bit, but still. with that kind of BA, u come out of that eventually. just kind of have to work ur way through it.
Brooks is 16 for his last 55 AB's with more than a couple O-fers.
He appears to be the odd man out to me; his saving grace being the long ball threat.
Still I think JDV should be thye first to sit whenever possible.
I would rather see he (Brooks) and Wishy as DH with a bat from both sides. Sabino figures to play against lefty's alternating in ? right field with BJ returning.
Onix was favored by Gedman I think more than JK, perhaps THAT love affair is over too. With our pitching staff I see Onix's probability of pitching as nil.
havent seen BJ play yet, but i here he's excellent.
and as much as DeVries is my favorite player and all, i think he would be the one to sit.
and, uhhh....16 for 55 is like, 291. thats not exactly a horrid slump, lmao
