The Spirit swept the doubleheader tonight, 4-0 and 6-1, behind two complete games. But that's not at all uncommon anymore, we've come to expect continuous victories.
So allow me to talk about something amazing and mesmerizing instead:
JON DE VRIES HIT A HOME RUN.
Yes, you may not believe it, but it's true- de Vries knocked one out in the 4th inning of game 1 of the doubleheader to make it 4-0 Spirit. It was a high, deep fly ball to centerfield that just scraped off the hitter's backdrop. It was his first homer hit at Fraser Field this season.
Before de Vries's at bat, I turned to Dave and said "I'll buy you a Coke if de Vries hits a homer." And dadgum if he didn't do just that. So I (naturally) shook up the Coke and sprayed it all over Dave.
It truly is a joyous day @ Fraser.
Magic numbers: 4 overall; 7 second half
BREAKING NEWS: SKYHAWKS LOSE, Tha-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a SKYHAWKS LOSE! 4-3. THAT's 19 in a row (sorry for my error yesterday)
MORE BREAKING NEWS: Make that magic number THREE! New Haven loses to Nashua. NAS, QUE still tied for 4th; WOR -1.5 NJJ -2.0

and one more thing: i think denny hamlin will 15th-place his way to a title this year, in all seriousness, cause the kid is nuts.
he took that car from absolutely nothing to fantastic. im not saying it cause im a JGR fan either. he's patient, good, and CAN win a race or two. and he dont wreck like JJ or frickin leffler (what a bust HE was)

Great pitching performances by both MacNamara & Morse. If we keep that up and the other starters keep up what they're doing than I think the playoffs are looking GREAT!!! ^_^
Welcome newbie pitcher and Gray....what a catch THAT guy was,eh? GREAT defensive plays and got a hit. Not to bad for a first impression....
And farewell Bethel. Great all-around team player and good guy. He also was always the first to volunter to catch for the first pitch (the other day he actually voluntered in advance....for the pats cheerleaders! XD). We'll miss ya bud,and good luck in Arizona.
