Ernesto Dampens Day/Bishop Pitcher Of August

As you guys may already know.......today Ernesto's remanits has rained out the game in Worcester between the Spirit and Tornadoes. THEREFORE... a doubleheader will be played tomorrow, starting at 4:05 PM. The double-header will be joined in progress, yet again, at 6 PM on 1510 The Zone with the one and only John Leahy. For game one the starters should be JOEY SIAK for the Sprit and REID WILLETT for the 'Nadoes. The game two starters, I don't know.

The Can-Cam League has announced their batter and pitchers for the month of August, and once again a Spirit player has made the list. This month they picked Nashua Pride DH Larry Bethea and the Spirit's own RHP Matt Bishop. In six August appearances, Bishop went 5-1 with a minuscule ERA of 1.19 and collected 23 strikeouts in 37 2/3 innings pitched. For the season, the resident of Raleigh, NC has a 6-1 record with a 1.74 ERA. He has struck out 30 batters in 46 2/3 innings pitched and opponents are only hitting .193 against him. I say he really deserves it.

Sort-Of-But-Not-Really-BURNING QUESTIONS:
1) Reid Willett pitched 2 1/3 innings on Friday and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits....do you think he'll last long tomorrow IF he starts?
2) Sam Smith, should he be in the playoff roation at all?
3) How bad do you think this team wants to go back to Quebec and kick some @$$??
4) Are these questions dumb?
5) ....

Dave, What's a remanit?.

I can't wait to irritate Michel "don't call me daughter" LaPlante; what a putz.
Quebec got rained out, so does THAT get em' in the playoffs? or do they need The Jackasls to lose also?.
Too bad Nashua didn't make it :(, I only wish Brockton hadn't gotten in; though it would be GREAT to beat them in the finals.....so freakin' SWEET.

In Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader Shaun McNamara (5-0, 2.14) starts for the Spirit. Worcester has not announced a starter.

Just an update on the playoff situation- Quebec was losing 8-6 to Sussex last night in the bottom of the seventh when the rain came and suspended play. They will finish the game today and then play their regular game. There is still a chance the Spirit could play New Jersey, however it is very unlikely. The Jackals need to sweep Brockton today and they also need for Quebec to lose both the suspended game and the regular game to get in.
