Tonight was an off night for the Spirit. Meanwhile, Brockton and Quebec improved to 4-0 with wins tonight as the Rox beat Atlantic City 6-3 at Campanelli Stadium and Les Caps scored a 6-4 win against the Jackals in Little Falls, NJ.
Worcester remained winless after a wild and dramatic 14-12 loss to New Haven County. The Cutters outscored Worcester 11-5 in the first three innings and held on despite Worcester chipping away the rest of the game, which wound up being a 3 hour, 40 minute affair at Hanover Insurance Park in Worcester.
After tonight's results, Brockton and Quebec have broken clear at the top of the standings. They lead the Spirit - who vaulted into 3rd over New Jersey and Atlantic City by virtue of their losses - by one game.
And it may be early, but suddenly, the 2005 champion Worcester Tornadoes find themselves 4 games out. With the CanAm League's half-season structure, it's never too early to feel a sense of urgency.
In addition to these three matchups, Sussex opens up a series at Nashua tomorrow night. The Spirit and the Grays start their series on Wednesday night at Fraser Field.
