Gametime

The Spirit are in Brockton, and it's time to show those clowns to our south who's boss. Let's end the 'Big Dig Series' on a positive note and keep up the push to the pennant.

FINAL
Spirit 6, Rox 5

Starters

Mike McTamney (ROX) vs.
Gary Galvez (NSS)

Top 1:

Anton French hits a leadoff single, but the Spirit put on the hit and run with Gary Roche, Roche flies out to right, and French is easy pickings to be doubled off. Don't ya just love when that happens? The next batter, Torres, popped out to end the inning.

Bot 1:

Nunez rips a one-out triple. LeBron then grounds out 4-3, scoring Nunez. 1-0 Rox.

Top 2:

With the bases loaded, Allen Mottram hit a grounder to short; the Rox got the out at 2nd, then threw the ball away attempting to turn two, letting two runs come in the back door. 2-1 Spirit.

Top 3:

Roche (all together now: Salio El Sooooooooooooooooool) hits a triple with one out. Torres then hits an RBI single to pick up his 48th RBI of the season to make it 3-1. A potential big inning is killed as Lopez whiffs and Torres is caught stealing - strike 'em out throw 'em out.

Bot 3:

Rubin and Coronado start the inning with hits, putting runners on the corners with nobody out.

Nunez gets an RBI, but not in a way Brockton would like: he grounds into a 6-4-3 double play. I'll take the 2 outs in exchange for the run, thanks. 3-2 Spirit.

Bot 5:

With runners at first and third Spirit botch a run down. They get the runner caught between first and second, but the runner at 3rd breaks for home. The Spirit then throw home and the runner is safe. 3-3.

Top 6:

Perez unties it with a 2-out, RBI single, plating Mike Torres. Perez is thrown out trying to reach 2nd on the play. We lose WAY too many baserunners out there. WAY too many. 4-3 Spirit.

Bot 6:

The Rox squander a leadoff walk - and the Spirit will carry a slim 4-3 lead into the final third of the game. Let's get a few more, eh?

Bot 7:

Donny Langdon comes in to pitch for the Spirit with 1 on and 2 out. Langdon gets Coronado to ground out and the Spirit maintain the 4-3 lead.

Top 8:

Mike Torres is so. fuckin'. good. ANOTHER RBI for Torres - this one an RBI triple - and it's 5-3 Spirit as Anton French scampers home. Torres is 3-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Now Luis Lopez adds an RBI double! Torres scores and it's 6-3. Those are two BIG insurance runs. NICE.

I also want to sincerely thank Chris Miyake for hanging McTamney out to dry. :) He FINALLY pulls him now after giving up 6 runs (so far), 11 hits, and a walk. Luis Carreras comes in to pitch for the Rox.

Carreras gets out of the inning. OK. 6 more outs.

Bot 8:

With 1 on and nobody out, Jamie Baker comes in to face Francisco LeBron. No more drama, Baker. Let's close 'em out...

...GAH, LeBron walks... two on, nobody out, and the tying run is up.

And Baker does an ACE job retiring the next three and escaping the jam! YES! 3 more outs.

Bot 9:

Time for Drage to close it out.

F!@#$$$$!!@#!@#!@# Drage loads the bases and Francisco LeBron is up with 2 out......

this is way too dramatic. Did I mention I hate playing in Campanelli Stadium? ahhhhhhhhhhhh

fjwefioajwefoawjiwfeoawje LeBron walks on 4 pitches, to make it 6-4.

John Allen up now with 2 out. LET'S GO DRAGE!!!!!!!!!!!

full count.....
ground ball up the middle

DAMNIT, E4 on Roche, and a run scores.......................... it's 6-5 now....................ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh jeeeeeeeeeeeez.

Gonzalez up.... come on.... let's go... cmon spirit.......

WOOO!!! WOO HOO HOO HOOOOOOOOOOO... SWING and a miss, strike 3!!!!!! ahhahahaha...YAHOO! Nice... Drage was just toying with them, duh :) SPIRIT WIN 6-5! rejoice
