Information on Rally Monday

I know some of you were interested in going to Rally Monday, and here is some information on it, right from the red sox site.

BOSTON -- Baseball's postseason begins on Monday, and the City of Boston, the Red Sox, and Major League Baseball are planning a celebration for the occasion.
Rally Monday, Presented by Bank of America, will take place this coming Monday, Oct. 1 from 4 until 7 p.m. Thanks to the leadership and support of Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, the event will be held at Boston City Hall Plaza and is open to the public free of charge.

This festival of baseball and music will celebrate the Red Sox' fourth post-season appearance in the last five years. Rally Monday will include a number of special live musical performances featuring the songs familiar to all Red Sox fans. Among the bands scheduled to participate are Dropkick Murphys, who will also be performing songs from their new album, The Meanest of Times, and the Standells of Dirty Water fame. Other performers will be announced shortly.

The event will also include a tribute to the 1967 Red Sox on what will be the 40th anniversary of their win over Minnesota (Oct., 1, 1967) to capture the American League pennant.

Representatives of the Red Sox, the City of Boston, and Bank of America will join NESN personalities at Monday's event.

This will make the third time in four years that Boston has had a Rally Monday with the 2004 and 2005 events taking place at Fenway Park. The initiative was started by Major League Baseball in 2004 in each city of the eight teams that annually advance to post-season play.

Rally Monday, Presented by Bank of America, will be shown on a tape-delay basis by NESN from 8 until 10 p.m. on Monday night.

Monday is my first day of work at the Census Bureau so I will be in Boston on that day, so I might stop by there after work.

Is anyone else going to go? Perhaps we can get a bite to eat after and/or watch some of the Pats game that night.

I'm glad the Mayor of Boston supports the Red Sox and is having a rally. too bad Clancy couldn't have showed a little Spirit for the Spirit.

I didn't see this story until Victoria found it online tonight and showed me. Had anyone else seen it? I loved the players comments-- especially Vic's.

Hindsight is indeed 20/20. As I had posted previously I think the best thing for you kids to root for is the NECBL to come to town. I just don't see an Atlantic League team wanting to take its chances with Lynn.

I wouldn't bother going to NECBL games. The players change too much so we don't really get to know them and cheer for them like we did the Spirit. Besides college ball isn't very good.

I agree with you on the first point, but not on the 2nd - the NECBL has produced far more MLB players than the Can Am League, including a few really good players.
