Padres/Rockies

I've never watched a one-game playoff before so I'm pretty excited about this game. I'm rooting for Colorado because I want to see some wacky, high-elevation playoff baseball.

Interesting note: Don Orsillo of NESN fame will be making his national debut, calling the game for TBS.

I'll watch and cheer for the Rockies. Trezza was bought by the Rockies last year so I could cheer for them. Of course I couldn't cheer for them if they were playing the Red Sox :)

Oh yeah. The Lynn Journal just called. They're writing a story about them. You should call Bill Cooksley and talk to him about the Spirit too. Especially Dave and Joe. I lked what you wrote here on the blog. That should be in the newspaper.

Peavy looks nervous as hell for the Pads... Rockies have a big threat going in the first.

1-0 Rocks.

My main observation of this game so far is that the atmosphere is better and the crowd more intense for a regular season Fenway game than it is for this game.

We often forget it, but it's true that Boston (and the northeast in general) is like a whole 'nother world when it comes to baseball...

I want to see the pictures too. I wanted Grandma to take me up there but she won't. She said I get to upset.

Joe Grav said...

this one could get u-g-l-y if peavy doesn't remember how to pitch!

3-0 COLO

what channel is the game on?

Joe Grav said...

Ohhhhhh baby! Jake Peavy starts a 3rd inning rally with a leadoff single, the Pads get the bases loaded, and Adrian Gonzalez absolutely LAUNCHES a no-doubt grand salami... wow

You can hear a pindrop now at The First Church of Coors. It's unraveling for Josh Fogg...

This is gonna be a wild one. Oh Coors Field.

TBS

Joe Grav said...

It's 4-3 San Diego by the way, and they also have the bases loaded with 1 out in the top of the 3rd

I covered the English-Winthrop football game Saturday morning at manning Field, and naturally I looked over at Fraser. The scoreboard is gone, and the padding that went along the outfield wall is all gone. I couldn't tell what else went, but Dave is right. It's absolutely barren. That's so very sad, that just two weeks after the last game and the identity of the field (not to mention almost all the final 24 players that were on the playoff roster) is all gone. What a shame.

Indeed.....6-5 Rockies in the bottom of the 8th.

Now there's two outs and a runner at third for Colorado....

Joe Grav said...

...cause i'd be pi$$ing myself at the moment

DaveCo said...

AGREED.
It doesn't really SOUND like a game of importance to me.....

Joe Grav said...

To the 9th...

by the way, the only challenge/fun for the Patriots at this point is trying to make sure they score exactly 38

Extra Innings!

Joe Grav said...

you've GOT to love it

DaveCo said...

haha,i just heard Ed Montague as the name of an ump =p

ALSO: 11th inning.....tie game.....one-game playoff......where's the noise?

Joe Grav said...

fraser field?

Joe Grav said...

DOUBLE PLAY this is awesome

Joe Grav said...

This might be the best one-game playoff ever (F you Bucky Dent) although IIRC the one Seattle won in 1999 was pretty huge

Joe Grav said...

Correcting myself:

It was 1995, and it wasn't a one game playoff, it was game 5 of the ALDS against the Yankees (and it was a sick game)

All the other one game playoffs beside the Bucky F. Dent game have been lame -

8-3
5-4 (dent game)
9-1
7-1
5-3 (Cubs over Giants for NL wild card, a good game)
5-0

DaveCo said...

wow.....12th inning now.....
this is intense...it's gotta be the best one-game playoff game ever.

Joe Grav said...

EPIC.

Joe Grav said...

good old hor-hay hoolio.

Joe Grav said...

Rockos have to score at least twice off of one of the best closers in the game. I'ma guess no

DaveCo said...

What ^ HE ^ said

ALSO: If they put Hoffman in there, which I think they're gonna do, than this game is over

Joe Grav said...

Joe Grav said...
