With the MLB trading deadline tomorrow, a little discussion about that team down the road in Boston should be acceptable. I think they absolutely HAVE to counter the Yanks' Abreu/Lidle trade. I don't think they need to mortgage the farm and get a Willis or a Zito, but just tacking on a guy like Kip Wells at the back of the rotation will help them make the playoffs. If they make the playoffs, they have the makeup to do something (with the good defense and great top 2 starters & closer), but I'm worried about their ability to make the playoffs.

Is anyone watching the Sox-Angels game right now?
How stupid was the Angels defense in the first inning? If they took the sure out at first those two times instead of getting greedy and going for the lead runner there would have been three outs and the run never would have scored. Lackey's throw to home was absolutely inexcusable and extremely dumb. Youkilis was practically touching the plate by the time he even spun to throw the ball. Talk about stupidity. The Sox are fortunate to have tied it at 1.
Update- Wow, only Manny Ramirez can make an idiotic play by letting the ball roll around in left field with Chone Figgins running, and have it wind up being a good play and make himself look like a good fielder out of it. His misplaying of the roll made Figgins decide he could go to 3rd... HAHA. I don't know why Figgins was running to 3rd anyways, I know he has good speed, but geezus, that was pretty silly. Nice throw by Manny, as usual. He has a very good arm.

I'd rather do that than give up Delcarmen, Pedroia, Murphy, and one of our regular position players like Lowell, Loretta for a Zito, Peavey, Dontrelle, Alfonso Soriano, etc.

A guy like Redman would bring a AA prospect +. Having said that, it might be worth it.
The other's you mentioned are hopefully unavailable to other teams.
Zito's not moving and Soriano's price is too high. I would like to see Dontrelle cause I think he's a good fit here with the other Marlin's on the squad; and I believe Theo has a credibility factor to exploit in Florida.
Depending on how bad Nixon's injury is, we may be stuck with Willy Mo. I think he may have been part of the "bait".
I like Wily Mo.. but not as a regular... yet.
