Spirit beat Brockton in Brockton; We don't get majorly harassed for once!
This was by far my most enjoyable trip to Brockton ever. The Spirit got the 3-1 win over the Rox to even the series at 1, and we made it out of there without death threats and encountering only one horrendously overserved person who was being mean.
About the game:
It started off tremendously for North Shore- Luis Sabino tripled in the first at bat and scored on Rob Fischer's RBI single. Vic Davilla smashed what appeared to be a 2-run homer off Rox starter Wayne Lundgren (Loss), but centerfielder Brad Rosenblatt made the play of the game, leaping to make the catch and rob the Spirit of what would have been an early 3-run lead. It truly was an incredible catch- he really did pull the ball back in from over the fence. Everyone in the park-including us- gave him a standing ovation.
The Spirit had Lundgren on the ropes several times early, but could never get the KO (no pun intended). Andrew Wishy singled to lead off the 2nd and scored on Luis Sabino's RBI single, but the Spirit stranded two men on for the second consecutive inning. From there, Lundgren settled down, retiring six men in order through the fourth and fifth.
Things were going swimmingly for Spirit starter Shawn McNamara (W) until the 4th. He retired the first 10 Rox batters before Guye Senjem singled with one out in the fourth. He came around to score on Mike Torres' RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1. But Zach Strong struck out to end the inning, ending the threat. In the 5th, McNamara got out of a dangerous situation by retiring Eugene Julien and Mike Scanzano to strand Joe Hough at 2nd base. In the 6th inning, he induced a 4-6-3 doulbe play off the bat of Jason Radwan to end the inning and his outing.
The Spirit got a little insurance in the 6th. Andrew Wishy hit a line drive home run off the foul pole just barely above the left field wall. There was some confusion as to whether the ball was 1) fair or foul and 2) over the wall for a home run or off the painted yellow line that's actually on the wall. But during the play, Andrew Wishy kept chugging as Eugene Julien stood in the corner befuddled, and he barely beat a throw home to score on what appeared to be an inside-the-park home run. The umps conferred and determined that it was in fact an outside the park home run, but it was academic- the Spirit had their 3rd run either way.
Dennis Robinson had another excellent setup outing. He struck out three men in two innings of work and got Mike Scanzano to ground into a double play to end the eighth. Kevin Fitzgerald (SV) closed it out with a 1-2-3 9th, capped by whiffing Jason Radwan.
Tonight's player of the game:
Andrew Wishy 3-4 : 1B, 2B, HR, 2 R, RBI
Honorable mentions to:
Shawn McNamara, 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER
Dennis Robinson, 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 K
Alex Trezza, 2-4 and finally busting out of his long hitting slump
Spirit @ Rox game 3 tomorrow 5:11 PM.

I will also agree....this was the best trip to Brockton I've ever experienced, and prob THE BEST road trip I've been on all year. We won,our offense and defense were the shits and I had an all-around good time.
Joe said everything that had to be said....all UI have to add is that I'm gald that this team choose Lynn,I am glad I met the people I did,and I hope we stay around for a long time more....
PS: Fischer had an RBI single and a walk in 5 at-bats.
PPS: That catch by Rosenblat in the 1st against Vic was absolutly AMAZING!!!! That's the type of stuff ya see on SportsCenter! ^_^
Thanks for thr wrap Joe, great job as usual.

Hey!!, Check out the new, inproved Spirit Web Site!!!
what is the address to the new spirit site? I tried www.northshorespirit.com and it didn't work
Hey Guys! Does ANYBODY know if there is actually a new Spirit website, because I looked at the site this morning and saw the same exact thing!
i don't like junior, but edwards is a crybaby and he shouldn't have gone into the man's victory lane like that.
i agree with benoit.
that wasnt a bump and run, he completely ran through him. on the straitaway.
he hit him 3 times without lifting on the throttle before carl went around.
