Tom Donahue: A Typical Offseason

Many people have asked me, "Grant, you know alot of things...what exactly is it that Tom Donahue of the North Shore Spirit does when there is no baseball?"

Well, after much research, I have found the answers.

It turned out that Tom, affectionately known as Tommy Bag O' Donuts in his inner circle of friends, actually has quite a busy offseason painting portraits of people in his own buisness. If you visit TomDonahue.com, you can commision a family portait, or a personal portrait, to be done by Tommy D himself! The photo to the right is a picture of Bag O' Donuts himself with one of his more recent portraits of what appears to be a human figure of some sort, perhaps of Spirit great Jon DeVries.

Most people don't know it, but in seasons past, Tom spent his time DJing for Radio KYA 1260. As you can see in the ad to the left, he was quite the star! You know it's him because of the caption: "Tom Donahue: Over 400 Pounds of Solid Sounds!" Most people don't know this, but Tom was called 'Big Daddy' back in his DJing days. You can read the article here.

Baseball isn't the only sport that Tom Donahue knows. In the offseason, he enjoys a good game of Lacrosse. Back in his earlier days, he was quite the player, as you can see from this 1977 photo, shown on the right. The page on which this photo appears can be seen here.

So there you have it. Tom Donahue: Now more of a man, and less of a mystery. For those of you who were wondering just what this lesser god does when he isn't helping coach the Spirit to victory, I hope this article clarified some things for you. If you weren't wondering, then I hope this article provided some interesting information that you may not have known!
