The budding rivalry between the North Shore Spirit and the Brockton Rox had already seen many great games before June 14, 2004—most of which were at the expense of the Spirit. But in June 2004, the Spirit- who were turning up the heat in their push toward a first-half championship- outslugged the Rox in a classic offensive battle at Campanelli.

Three Spirit players homered- Rob Fischer, Nilson Teilon and Travis Oglesby. Three Rox players also went deep.

A two run double by Frank Charles and a two run single by Brian Macchi got the Spirit off to a quick 4-0 lead for Jeremy Sugarman, who struggled, yielding 4 runs in just 5 innings of work, but was able to secure his fourth win of the season.

The Spirit gave Sugarman the necessary run support in the 2nd and the 5th as Nilson Teilon and Rob Fischer clouted solo home runs. Fischer’s homer extended his hitting streak to eighteen games.

Travis Oglesby’s seventh inning blast put the game out of reach as the Spirit put three more on the board. Gary Bell pitched three shutout innings before being touched up for two in the 9th, but by then, it was too late, as the Spirit got the 10-6 win.
