The Spirit were soaring in late June of '04, rolling toward a second consecutive first-half north division title. This had a lot to do with John Kelly, who was at his most untouchable. You'll see more games from this streak during the countdown.

GAME STORY

John Kelly extended his scoreless streak to 18 2/3 innings Thursday night as the North Shore Spirit topped the New Jersey Jackals 3-0 at the new Fraser Field.

After 4 starts this season, Kelly was 1-2 with an era of 8.66. Since then, the right-hander has been simply dominant. Kelly shutout Elmira on June 18th and Thursday night he blanked New Jersey on five hits. The reigning Northeast League pitcher of the year struck out eleven, increasing his league-leading total to 45.

The Spirit would get all the runs they would need in the second inning. Rob Fischer would reach on a single up the middle and score on an RBI double by Frank Charles. Travis Oglesby would drive home Charles with a majestic homerun to left, his fifth of the season.

Oglesby was 2-2 for the Spirit and both Wady Almonte and Kevin Grijak went 2-4 for the Jackals. Jackson Crowther got the loss for New Jersey after pitching eight innings and giving up five hits.

Box Scores, man, you gotta have the box score, too: http://www.northshorespirit.com/scoreboard/gamerecap/index.cfm?ac=main&ID=182#GAME.NCA

Unfortunately, this was something the Spirit didn't have in 2005 -- if you pick any 2006 games, grab 'em now while you can...
