New poll: name your team

So, apparently our team name choices are down to:

-Wave (ew)
-Tidal Wave (double ew)
-Nor'easters (Not bad at all - North Shore Nor'Easters sounds cool, and it was already supposed to be the name of Lopardo's ill-fated Lynn hockey team)

Out of those three, I don't mind Nor'easters, but I'm not really enamored with any of them. I suggested a few more in a comment in the last post.

I put up a new poll on the right hand side asking you to chime in.

I vote "Sailors." "Lynn Sailors" would be a good way to honor the history of baseball in Lynn. Alternatively, "North Shore Sailors" sounds cool.

If you pick 'other', specify here in the comments. We know that the new owner reads this blog, so think long and hard about this!

Some of you may or may not recall the folks [carping] about the name of the Worcester Tornadoes when they were born (inane chatter that it was insensitive to the victims of the 1950s distaster, nevermind the number of wind-type storms that blow through So. Fla., if you know what I mean) so in the, um, spirit of good fun, why not the Lynn Fire or the North Shore Blaze? Just think of all the puns, particularly if they go on a winning streak!

If we have to have a new team. I vote for the name Pirates. There were pirates in Lynn & some were famous. There was a bar in Lynn that pirates used to hang out at. The Pirate Museum in Salem has lots of information about pirates in Lynn. Thomas Veal was in Lynn Woods and there were women pirates in Lynn too.

You have to admit is the kid has a point. A pirate would be a cool mascot.

I like Pirates.

As much as I liked the Spirit, no more concept names, please.

Great idea Victoria. I like the name Pirates too. If there's a contest to name the team enter that name since it was your idea. Maybe you'll win. Season tickets would be a cool prize because I hope you will come to Fraser Field to hang out with your friends.

The Lynn Pirates existed in both 1915 and 1983.

I like the Nor'easters.
