New Haven big man Jimmy Hurst blasted a two-run shot deep over the centerfield wall to tie the score at three in the top of the third. However, it was deja vu in the bottom of the inning when Travis Oglesby hit a two-run homer, his 11th of the year, to put the Spirit on top 5-3.
Jimmy Hurst hit his second blast of the night in the sixth for the Cutters to close in on the Spirit. However, with one out in the bottom of the sixth, Yuri Sanchez hit his league leading ninth triple to score Macchi and Wooton.
In the seventh, the Spirit tacked on two additional runs to take a 15-9 lead and never looked back.
Lucas Taylor finished 4-5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Travis Oglesby was 3-4 with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored. Jeff Dixon (1-0) got the win for the Spirit in his first appearance of the season. Ryan Bonesio (3-5) picked up the loss for New Haven.

Oh Jimmy Hurst, it's hard to believe it's been two years since your infamous outburst.
Any comments on tonight's Spirit Show, where the talk was pitching, pitching and more pitching?

Mr. Leahy, in case you're reading- not to sound rude but as of now the Spirit would be facing New Jersey, not the Rox.
agreed, with benoit. on both counts. i guess that makes me dave 'cut n paste' riley part 2. john does do a great job with the show. the lines were packed tonight, too- that's always a good sign.
jeff ware was good on the radio.
I missed the show, dammit.
Pharmeceuticals must be helping Jimmy Hurst; perhaps an antipsychotic and some talk therapy do have value to athletes. Who Knew?. I thought Jimbo was going to jail that night.
S'il vous plait Joseph, part deux.
Hey Joe, I got a few ideas for rooting on the SPIRIT in CT..
Don't want to give away all the secrets, but one involves the use of several ft. of Monofilament and a large SPIRIT flag. Hmmmmm.
New Jersey has been playing good ball lately. With a late push by everyone ('cept for Sussex), parity is indeed the watchword.
Preordering of the DaveCo T-shirts is slated to begin on Monday 8/20, more later. Price is $15.95 plus S&H.
My apologies for the wrong information. I wrote out all the info for show prep and must have added a figure wrong. I rechecked it and yes, going into Monday it would have been Spirit-NJ and New Haven-Brockton. Thanks for picking it up.
1. Yes, but let me enter TitoMode:
Our bullpen's pretty used up, his pitch count was low, etc etc.
2. We'll see how good he is, and the answer is "not very." First of all the 19 blows just as much as the 38 car, at least the 38 had good engines. But anyways ESad is probably the #1 most overrated driver on the circuit & he's going to fuck it up w/ evernham too. Oh, also, Jamie McMurray sucks. Random but necessary. McMurray, Newman and Sadler make up the holy trinity of overrated drivers.
3. They won't, unless a 25 point penalty will put Jr over the top. JJ is a marketable champion for NASCAR, why would they want to fuck it up?
NASCAR?
The grass on my lawn is now 2.125 inches long. I don't like to let Rye get that long; normally I would treat it as a Fescue and cut it very short.
I'll tell Ya' though that Scotts Turfbuilder #2 is good but somewhat overrated; it requires too much water (3x/wk.) and I just don't have the time.
I wouldn't mind that. John deserves a shot at 'moving up.' He has an MLB voice.
