Galvez, Spirit cruise

Since coming to the Spirit at the start of the 2nd half, Gary Galvez has been an entirely different pitcher than he was during his time with Brockton. That trend continued tonight as Galvez got his 4th win in dominating fashion, shutting out the Grays in 7 innings of work en route to a 6-0 Spirit victory.

Gary Roche hit a two-run homer as the Spirit jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. The score stayed that way until the 6th, when BJ Weed and Mike Torres picked up RBIs to increase the cushion to 6-0. Roche went 4-for-4 on the night, his first solid game since changing his at bat music from 'Salio El Sol.'

Donny Langdon and Derek Drage teamed up to get through the last two innings, although Drage did put two men on in the 9th before ultimately closing the door.

The series wraps up tomorrow.

File under "Speak of the Devil": Rumor has it that Nilson Teilon will be on his way back to Lynn within the next few weeks. Maybe my postings have bizarre psychic powers? We could certainly use him - I could see an arrangement of Teilon at 3rd, Luis at 1st, Josue to DH, and Mottram strictly as a backup catcher. I'd be pretty darn happy with that setup.

The Spirit pulled it together and got a great win today as they had the 500,000th fan walk through the iron gates. I think that first inning really helped get morale up for the spirit as the first batter walked, second one got a homer, and the next two walked. Luckily we kept hitting consistantly and got 6 runs on 10 hits out of it.

This series has been weird.....the first game we anihilated the Grays. Then last night they turned into us from the first game and tonight we turned into the Grays copying us. I hope THIS trend doesn't continue,as I will be at tomorrow's game exhausted and most likely tired XD

ALSO: French is indeed gone.

PS: From what I heard if that Nelson rumor is true that's what would happen Joe....and it'd also be another week or so before we'd see him if it's true. Weird that you posted that thing and suddenly there's talk of him returning.......write something about Jeremy Sugarman now. =]

RADIO REMINDER

Sunday's game will be live on our website at 1 PM and will air on tape delay on the Zone after the NASCAR race (approximately 6 PM).

If you tune in to the radio broadcast and don't want to know the score, I recommend staying away from the Cam-Am site.

Thanks,

John Leahy

3 WEEKS AGO IT WAS ....LEAKED.... THAT WE WOULD BE GETTING A PLAYER THAT WAS RETURNING TO THE TEAM. WHEN AFTER A COUPLE WEEKS MNOTHING NHAD HAPPENED, I ASSUMED THAT IT WAS JUST GRIST FROM THE RUMOR MILL. NOW, PERHAPS WE WILL INDEED SEE TEILON.
I, FOR ONE, WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM RETURN, HE BEING ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SPIRIT PLAYERS, AND A REMINDEDR OF THE GOOD, ALMOST GREAT DAYS.
WE COULD CERTAILNLY USE HIS POP, AND IT SEEMS LIKE HE'S STILL GOT SOME.

It also need to be said what an absolutely awesome game Roche had.
Not only did he go 4 for 4 as was stated in the original post, he also got the GWRBI, homered and was on base in every AB ( 1 BB).
As if that weren't enough, he made two TERRIFIC plays on hot, 1-hop grounballs,in addition to bailing out J. Lopez with 3 catches of tough pop-ups behind 1st base well as one well down between home and 1st.
I my opinion, he is due more credit for his play than he seems to have received to date.

On a different subject;
This blog seems to be infected with the dounbleclick and Avenue A spyware cookies. I noticed them after logging off and running scan.
I later logged into this site (directly) and after logging off, reran a scan and AGAIN foung these two spyware pests.
Run your anti-spyware software and check your box.
FYI: my macafee didn't catch it, but the eaccelaration stopsign software did.
